Tagliatelle with prawns is comfort food with a gourmet touch. A creamy, thick, delicious, cream sauce with prawns on top. You know it’s got to be good! This simple recipe has Italian tradition written all over it. Italian food is all about good fresh quality ingredients creating something wonderful to eat. Although I’d like to maintain my foodie respectability and stick to my spatula about cream and seafood, I’m willing to throw out the rule book for this prawn and pasta dish. And why not? I always say that variety is the ultimate spice of life and I’m all about the “taste good factor”.


Tagliatelle with Prawns

  • 500g tagliatelle
  • 2 tbs olive oil
  • 2 shallots finely chopped
  • 250ml single cream
  • 300ml dry white wine
  • Juice and peel of 1 lemon
  • 3 tsp capers
  • 200g prawns
  • chopped parsley for decoration
  1. Cook the tagliatelle for the recommended time.
  2. Whilst cooking heat the olive oil in a large frying pan or skillet and add the chopped shallot. Fry for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the cream, wine capers, lemon juice and peel.
  4. Add the prawns and cook for another 3 minutes then add the drained tagliatelle and yoss togther.
  5. Serve with a sprinkle of chopped parsley.
  6. Notes
  7. For added taste  you can sprinkle parmesan cheese on top.


Try it with spaghetti instead of tagliatelle.
